4. Safe & Sound
is a multi-component program designed to help parents, teachers, and the community prevent children from entering the drug culture. The program targets risk and protective factors in multiple domains using seven principal components: student reward system, homework assistance, the “To Good for Drugs & Violence” education curriculum, visits by local community heroes, parental involvement, and summer camp.

5. Safe Passage
a collaborative project with the Gadsden County Sheriff Department which is a delinquency prevention and social skills program used for alternative sanctioning. This program is also used to decrease disproportionate minority contacts with the juvenile justice system. Its primary goals are to reduce undisciplined acts, decrease the likelihood of future, serious delinquency, and increase socially acceptable behaviors. Youth assessments, needs, and goals are viewed as ongoing and changing.

6. Closing the Gap on HIV/AIDS
a county-wide“Awareness and Prevention” program designed to help eliminate the health disparity in HIV/AIDS among African Americans, and to saturate the community with information about HIV/AIDS to prevent the spreading of the disease. IOY is a State certified confidential HIV/AIDS counseling and testing site which uses OraSure for testing (no needles). IOY also provides technical assistance to churches, ministries and other faith-based agencies/groups that wish to work on eliminating HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Additionally, IOY provides prevention and awareness throughout six (6) other counties (Liberty, Madison, Jefferson, Wakulla, Franklin and Taylor) in Area
